E-FIELD Flames microgravity image is now on the NASA Task Book Site (Electric-Field Effects on Laminar Diffusion Flames)

NASA has implemented our “E-FIELD Flames in µg on the ISS” image on the Task Book site.

This image is composed of three types of methane diffusion flame applied with different electric field forces experimented from the International Space Station. The flame images are original sizes relative to each other without alternation.

This representative image of E-FIELD Flames research is designed and created by Dr. Chien.

Electric field effects flames (Electric-Field Effects on Laminar Diffusion Flames)

This gif image particularly demonstrates a methane flame under the influence of electric field.  The electrical aspects of hydrocarbon flames contains amazing but complex nature that the flame geometry would be altered and experiencing this huge change. These images are first presented in May 2013 US National Meeting at Utah.  The full set of image is published in “Electric Field Induced Changes of Diffusion Flame and Heat Transfer near an Impinging Surface” (Energies – MDPI).
